Travel Day to the Ecuador & The Galapagos Islands

We are incredibly thankful for Beverly and Travel Mania for orchestrating our unforgettable trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Their expertise and attention to detail made the planning process seamless. When we learned that our package included the chance to fly first class for just $700 more, we didn’t hesitate for a second—we jumped at the opportunity! The thought of experiencing comfort and luxury while traveling to such breathtaking destinations seemed like a dream come true. With every detail handled, we were ready to immerse ourselves in the stunning landscapes and vibrant wildlife that awaited us.

From Karen’s perspective, it was a little bit embarrassing, like we were imposters with the privileged access of first class tickets. We breezed through the check-in process, bypassing the long lines of economy travelers feeling their eyes on us with a little bit of scorn, (and possibly wondering who were these people??) and were soon walking toward the dedicated lounge.

From my perspective, the atmosphere inside the first class lounge was like stepping into a sanctuary. Soft music played in the background while plush seating invited us to relax. Complimentary drinks flowed freely, and a gourmet buffet showcased a variety of delicious options—from fresh fruits to sushi rolls (although I will admit I don’t do sushi..!). We settled into a cozy corner, and enjoying small bites.

With a long layover in Miami ahead of us, we embraced the time to unwind. Karen and I took naps as we were still a little tired from the redeye. The lounge's floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of the runway; each takeoff and landing was a reminder of the adventures we were about to embark on, and we eagerly discussed our next stops.

After indulging in the lounge's offerings, it was time to stroll around and get in some serious people watching. The Miami airport did not disappoint in that category. Outfits, hairdo’s and shoes were on display in sharp contrast to our typical mundane travel clothes.

On to our gate where the real intent of the first class tickets was to be fulfilled. No battling for overhead space, so my cameras were not in jeopardy. And Karen had to admit she did enjoy not having to concede elbow room in the middle seat, as usual.

After checking into our rooms we explored our hotel. Every corner invites you to explore. Our first stop? The charming hotel brewery, where you can savor handcrafted beers that capture the essence of the region. We enjoyed our refreshing pints and uncover the stories behind each brew. It's a taste of adventure you won't want to miss!
